CONWAY, Ark. (March 14, 2017) – Hendrix College Radio Station
KHDX-FM 93.1 is a founding member of the new Arkansas College Radio Association (ArkCRA), a support and resource network of college radio stations in Arkansas.
“The future of college radio in Arkansas looks bright,” said KHDX technical director Jacob Turner ’19, president of ArkCRA. “We are very pleased to have launched a state-level organization which is the first of its kind in the country to bring together university radio stations to support and assist each other in our development and operations, as well as to help other colleges to start their own stations.
“One of our hopes is that ArkCRA will help ensure the stability and support of student-run radio operations, which can at times be difficult due to staff turnover,” said Professor of Biology Hendrix and Advisor KHDX, Dr Maureen McClung. “Chartered stations include established organizations and those that are just starting out, so the ArkCRA presents many opportunities for collaboration. “
“The energy behind this organization is incredible, and true to college radio, it is all about student-oriented,” added McClung.
KHDX members joined their peers from KUOZ from the University of the Ozarks, KXUA from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and NUMediA from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith for an inaugural meeting last month in Hendrix. .
Other founding members of ArkCRA include KVHU of Harding University, KWEM of Arkansas State University Mid-South, and Red Wolf Radio of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
