Amateur radio enthusiasts from across the state of Michigan will eagerly gather at the Midland Salvation Army Building at 330 Waldo Ave on Saturday, June 18, as the Midland Amateur Radio Club hosts its annual Hamfest and Show. The site is one block south of the traffic light on Bay City Road and promises to be filled with radio enthusiasts eager to see the latest gear, sell and trade used gear or just socialize and to meet friends they have made on the airwaves.

Dealership setup is at 6:30 a.m. and doors open to the public at 8 a.m. Table rental is $5.00 each, and event admission is also $5.00. The MARC Hamfest features a number of hobbyists with gear for sale and trade. A wide range of amateur radio equipment and accessories, computers, parts, coaxial cables and connectors will welcome visitors to the Salvation Army building. The Midland Amateur Radio Club will have its large stock of vintage and hard to find vacuum tubes for sale.

Outside, adjacent to the free parking lot, safe boxes will be available for $5.00 per space.

The Club will offer on-site VE exams for those wishing to obtain their Ham Radio licence, or those wishing to upgrade and gain new privileges. Pre-registration for exams is required.

For information on the VE testing session, contact: Dennis K. Klipa, N8ERF Phone (989) 948-5427 or email [email protected]

Candidates will need to bring two pieces of identification and copies of all applicable amateur radio licenses and certificates. Calculators are optional. The test fee is $15.00. If applicants choose to visit the Hamfest after completing their tests, the entrance fee is not included in the test fee.
