Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a new radio station in the expansion

A contest to get your own track in Cyberpunk 2077 is going on – but you’ll need to transfer all copyright to CDPR.

Cyberpunk 2077’s next expansion, Phantom Liberty, will also add a new radio station called Growl FM. The station will be hosted by actress and streamer Sasha Grey, and will consist of tracks submitted by fans through a music competition organized by CD Projekt Red.

This is the first new station to be added since the game launched in 2020, and also the first that will feature songs composed by the fanbase. Competitors have until November 30 to submit their own tracks, with between 12 and 15 being chosen to appear in the DLC.

Songs submitted to the contest do not have to be of any particular genre, but there are certain restrictions on what can be used. For example, all songs must be in English, Spanish, Japanese or Chinese. It should also be between two and three minutes long and draw inspiration from the short clip introducing the station shared in the tweet below. The clip makes a few references to The Mox in-game gang, so it’s probably best to aim for that kind of vibe.

Winners will take home a cash prize of $3,000, as well as Cyberpunk goodies. And yet, despite this, you might want to read the terms and conditions carefully before submitting. All winners will be required to transfer “all economic copyright and related rights” in the song to CD Projekt Red, allowing them to do whatever they want with the track. It also means you won’t be able to monetize it yourself, and there’s no question of getting royalties if CDPR releases the track itself.

As for the station itself, however, Sasha Gray will lend her voice to Growl FM. Gray will play the station’s host, Ash. It’s also a first in the game, as unlike other sandboxes, Cyberpunk’s radio stations play hostless music, interrupted only by occasional newscasts.

You can submit your track on the website, and make sure it meets all the requirements. Phantom Liberty is expected to launch in 2023.
